Welcome back to the second edition of our newsletter which will keep you up-to-date with all the latest local events suitable for juniors. Please remember, we want to spread the news of chess, so feel free to forward to friends and family to subscribe.

Nottinghamshire Junior Grand Prix

Final session: Saturday 4th November
Time: 9.30am - 5.00pm
Venue: Dovecote School, Clifton, NG11 8EY
6-round rapidplay in 4 sections: U11, U10, U9 and U8

On Sunday 3rd December during the Notts County Championships, we shall be holding an U12 and U15 Rapidplay. Prizes of £50 and £25 in each section! Entries are now open. Enter online or download a leaflet.
We plan to enter one or more teams into the Junior 4NCL weekends 2 and 3, which take place in the new year. See the 4NCL website for details and results from the first weekend:

U18 County Championships 2018 announced

Date: Sunday 25th February
Place: The King’s School, Grantham
Sections: ECF U18 Open (12 players) and U18 Minor (6 players, grade limited)
Organiser: Neill Cooper, ECF Manager of School Chess
Format: 2 round Jamboree, round 1 at 11.00am, round 2 at 1.30pm

Notts Chess Association have offered to pay the entry fee if we can raise teams, so please contact to express an interest. This is a prestigious event, with a chance to become National U18 Champions!

Yorkshire Junior Problem Solving Event

Sunday, 19th November 2017
Venue: Centre Library, Ackworth School, Pontefract, West Yorkshire WF7 7LT
Times: 10.00am-4.00pm.
Ages: 6-18. The organisers will arrange suitable levels of training/competition. Beginners are welcome
Entry fee - £5.00 payable to White Rose Junior Chess Academy

Junior U130 Four Counties Quadrangular

The next in the series of matches between Notts, Leics, Yorks and Lincs will be held in March 2018 after we failed to find a date in the autumn term. More details will follow soon, but if your son or daughter is U18 and U130 standard ECF grade, and would like to play a single day of 3 ECF graded games with game analysis where time, please contact Simon Scott.
