News for juniors

Welcome back! February brings more events locally for junior players, not least the Nottingham Rapidplay on Sunday 20th February, which we are confident will now go ahead with minimal restrictions on playing conditions. Enter online now, before the 150-player limit is reached!

Time control: 20mins + 10 secs for all moves
A 6-round ECF-rated tournament with an Open and grade-limited sections, including Improvers. More details including an online entry form and postal entry are available at

Yorkshire Junior Chess Association
Grand Prix Event 2

Date: Saturday 12th February 2022
Venue: Hymers Avenue, Hull, HU3 1LW
Entry fee: £14/£12
Time control: 15mins +10s increments

Sections from Major, Intermediate, Minor to Novice. 6-round rapidplay. Cash prizes, trophies and medals. See to find out more.

Call for players:
Junior U1450 County team

We have entered a junior team in the U1450 section, which is equivalent to the U100 grade. We are playing a match against Leicestershire on 26th February 2022, to be played at Bramcote Memorial Hall (the venue for West Nottingham Chess Club). Please note, other counties do not have junior-only teams.
