Starting the New Year with a New Face in 4th Grade
We are pleased to welcome Ms. Patti Biggs as our new 4th Grade homeroom teacher. When Ms. Madsen informed us that she would be moving to Corpus at the end of December, our prayers for a new teacher were answered with Ms. Biggs who has been in education for 27 years. She and her husband, Michael, have been married for 37 years and have three grown children and 2 grandchildren (with another on the way). Her hobbies are reading, gardening, and cooking. She retired from teaching in 2015 and became very active at our local food pantry. She is returning to the classroom because she missed the kids and feels God is calling her to our school.
All 3rd & 4th grade parents are invited to come meet Ms. Biggs on Sunday, January 9th from 2:00pm - 3:00pm in the 4th grade homeroom. She spent the Christmas break preparing for the students' return and is looking forward to meeting the parents to answer any questions and to set up meetings to get to know her classroom families better.
So please join us in welcoming Ms. Biggs to our Mariner family! God answered our prayers in a "Biggs" way (sorry but we just couldn't pass that pun up).

Covid Protocols
Adjustments to the Covid quarantine practices for students and faculty testing positive and for exposure cases has been updated to more closely align with the CCISD new protocols. The primary change is the new "Test-to-stay" practice that will allow students and faculty to remain in school even if a member of their household contracts Covid. Please go to our school website for details about these new protocols.
We had hoped to start the new year with lifting the church mask requirements and having elementary students eat lunch together, but because of the current surge in cases due to Omicron, we will keep our pre-Christmas practices until this wave has passed. The Covid Task Force Team will continue to monitor the cases in Calhoun County and hopes to remove these restrictions soon. During the classroom day, masks are optional for all students and faculty under normal circumstances.

A School Prayer
Blessed are you, Lord God,
Creator of body and mind and heart;
you have sent the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge
to guide your people in all their ways.
As we begin this new year,
bless and protect our students, teachers,
staff, and their families.
Expand the horizons of our minds,
and deepen our commitment to seek
the truth of Your ways.
Enliven our faith to reach out to those in need,
particularly those isolated and lonely.
Help us to trust in the love of your Son Jesus,
our Divine Teacher, who is the same
yesterday, today, and forever.
Amen.
