To TRACKS, The Wallowology Newsletter

As fall descends on Wallowa Country, we are watching the leaves change, and looking at the season ahead!

We ended our fourth season on September 30th. We’d like to thank everyone who has helped make this season outstanding—Donors, Volunteers, Community Partners, & our awesome visitors! Read on for a recap of all the incredible things we did this year. We wouldn't be here without you. Thank You For Your Support!

C.O.D.E. GREEN

Children Outdoors Discovering & Exploring

In addition to our Discovery Walks, monthly presentations, field trips, festivals & parades, this was the first season for our new youth program C.O.D.E. Green.

  • Every Tuesday we held Twigs & Tales Story Time through the Wallowa County Library, where kids snuggled in our giant bird’s nest for stories and crafts!
  • We hosted nature walks, science, and games (and maybe even a little ice cream 😁 )
  • One of our biggest C.O.D.E. Green endeavors was Saturday Science! Held most Saturdays during the summer, kids learned the science behind pollination, fish, nature journaling, rocks & minerals, the total solar eclipse, and so much more!

GRATITUDE FOR GRANTS

Wildhorse Foundation contributed funds to equip our hands-on Discovery Room including a Leica EZ4C stereomicroscope. After adventures outside, C.O.D.E. Green kids can look up close at their discoveries and save their photos!

Storms Family Foundation helped fund our summer outdoor program Corps of Discovery. Kids ages 8 to 12 had a week of outdoor fun, exploration, art, and writing.

FALL HAPPENINGS

  1. Generously funded by Gray Family Foundation, we begin Fall C.O.D.E. Green this month with a homeschool partnership providing students with access to scientists and a connection to the outdoors.
  2. Watch for our free presentations held monthly year round.
