Join Us On Our Journey!
Programs, Exhibits, Presentations and Outings – we’ve got it all at the Wallowology Discovery Center, right here in Joseph, Oregon. It might seem too good to be true, but it is true, thanks to the support we receive from all of you.  Please join us in helping bring forth another season of fun and learning as we celebrate the art and science of the Wallowa Country.

July Events!

Thank you to all of our members and donors for making it possible to offer exciting events like our Star Party on July 13th and our monthly evening presentations, such as the July 19 event with legendary biologist Vic Coggins. Please join us on July 15th for our annual appreciation BBQ. We hope to see you and thank you in person!

Ralph's Links

July is "the moon.." of sweet cherries, currents and saskatoons coming ripe in Wallowa country.  First apricots in the canyons, blackberries where they have become established and huckleberries in the forests.
It is the time to watch fledgling red-tailed hawks with blackbirds and kingbirds dogging their trails.  Great horned owls have spent weeks practicing flight and watching robins and smaller birds landing on the ends of branches.  Often, when a clumsy big owl tries the same stunt they end up upside down clutching a twig... wondering what went wrong
July is the month of cultural celebrations, Independence Day parades, barbecue, Tamkaliks in Wallowa and Joseph Days Rodeo
Ralph Anderson, having retired from a career with the U.S. Forest Service and as a consulting Wildlife Biologist, continues to offer his perspectives, insights and perusal of the current flow of science discoveries and its implications via postings on the Wallowology facebook page. The range of links he posts runs from hard science of physics, mathematics, geo-spatial, archaeological and natural sciences to applications in education, fun and play.  He tries to dodge the politics of most issues though they are implicit in many of the articles. A common denominator he seeks in his postings is information, a widening perspective, appreciation for all that is around us and fun.

Quote Of The Month

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.
