November 30, 2020
Dear <<First Name>>,
Who could have imagined what 2020 had in store? And yet, many of us found ways to embrace the positive and look toward a brighter future. One of those positives for i3f was that after several years, we launched our first entrepreneur boot camp in Kenya. One hundred and three young Kenyan entrepreneurs applied over the summer and twenty-eight were selected to attend a four-day virtual training lead by skilled Kenyan instructors. The energy between the cohort was electric as they all sought to help each other both online and in flurries of text messages. In October, the cohort drafted their business plans and ten went on to pitch. The judges faced a difficult decision narrowing it to three who will now go on to a three-month mentorship and the possibility of seed funding.
Venecity Kajuju Ndumga (26), Victoria Judith Muthoni Karanja (35), and John Ceazar Onyango (26) gave the most compelling pitches. Venecity’s business, “Elegant Phones_254” intends to scale up her cellular phone business by providing exceptional customer service including maintenance, repairs, and training on specialty applications. Victoria’s “Beula Beauty Shop” intends to be the leader in rural supply of beauty products, currently an untapped market. John’s “Jamis Taka Investment” business is taking sustainability to new heights by creating new marketable products out of the disposable waste they collect.
This Giving Tuesday, we would be thrilled if you would partner with us by providing a contribution so that these mentees can thrive! You can donate via our website at: www.i3f.org/donate
Venecity said, “I am a happy entrepreneur! Allow me to pass my sincere gratitude to you and your team for the entrepreneurship training that has transformed my life and that of my business.” We are so excited to see how these young entrepreneurs will thrive under their mentors.
In partnership,
Staci M. Alziebler-Perkins
