Equity Bank sacks manager accused of sexually harassing interns

Equity Bank has sacked one of its managers accused of sexually harassing interns.

In a statement on Wednesday, the bank said the unnamed manager has been fired and replaced following numerous complaints against him by interns.

The manager is accused of making improper moves to interns on the Equity Leaders Programme.

“The Group has taken necessary measures in line with its policies and procedures, including disciplinary measures, and in some cases termination/separation of employment of certain staff,” said David Ansell, the group chairman designate.

In pop culture, internships are often portrayed as free labor for employers, and as glorified servitude for the interns themselves. Somewhere in the middle is probably more accurate than any of these extremes. So what actually makes a great internship great?

Europe's Role in the new Geopolitical Environment

There will be a discussion hosted by the Graduate Institute this week.

The European Union has weathered the financial crisis, but continues to face a host of challenges: its role in international politics; the scope of security and defence cooperation; redefining the concept of ‘sovereignty’; the societal impact of technological disruption and migration; and generalised anxiety among the EU’s population in relation to globalisation. In this context, it is important for the EU to remain confident in itself and its sense of identity.
