UN needs almost total reform, says Geneva chief.

For some, 2018 may represent the beginning of the undoing of the global rules-based system set up after the end of the World War II. A year after announcing its departure from the Paris Agreement on climate change, Washington continues to disengage with the United Nations — withdrawing from the Human Rights Council and cutting funds to programs such as UNRWA, the U.N. agency that supports Palestinian refugees. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom is close to exiting the European Union in March 2019 and the World Trade Organization is finding its authority challenged.

New lawmakers pressure Congress to treat interns better to bring more disversity to Capitol Hill

When Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said last week that she would not only pay her interns, but also provide more than the minimum wage, the news had an immediate impact.

Within hours, the mood had perceptibly shifted on a parochial concern that has vexed Congress for more than two decades, as the progressive ideals of one incoming lawmaker ran headlong into the disparities that have long persisted on Capitol Hill.

GIA Dinner - Pekin Palace

Hello fellow interns and friends!

It has been and wonderful year full of events and good memories and we have all made many friends through GIA so as the year is coming to an end, we would like to bring back an old GIA tradition and we'll have a sit down dinner together before we start breaking off for the holidays, some of us for good...

This next Monday we'll be going to Pékin Palace (an AMAZING chinese restaurant) which is conveniently located next to the KFC close to la gare and of course since this is GIA, the entire menu will have special prices just for us!

The restaurant is highly recommending us to have their famous fried rice that can either be made with pork, chicken or vegetarian. If the fried rice doesn't convince you, EVERYTHING else will have a 10% discount.

Also as a special treat, coupons will be provided to some lucky winners in a raffle!

* We highly recommed to get there on time, or not too late (if that's not possible you can still get there, no worries there will also be cheap drinks) so we can all eat together, the restaurant is big enough.

****Prices with GIA Wristband****

Fried rice (pork, chicken, vegeterian) - 15 CHF
Any other plate from their menu, including desserts - 10% off

Martinis - 4.95 CHF
Beers - 4.05 to 6.30 CHF
Cocktails - 9 CHF
Tea - 4.05 CHF

Where: Pekin Palace (Rue des Alpes 22, 1201 Genève)
When: Starting from 19:00
How To Get There: Get to the train station with the many options that we have (tram 15, 14, 18, bus 1, 19, 6, 8, 25) and after that is just a 2 minutes walk.

See you guys there, and feel free to bring your friends, the more the merrier!
