If you are not yet familiar with the association, we are looking forward to seeing you at our up coming events over the rest of the year :)

Swiss tax broadcast - CDL type H situation

As you may know, in May 2018 UN broadcast sent out a message notifying  people that there is currently a Swiss tax amnesty in place for declaring unpaid taxes would expire at the end of September.

This "change" is only applicable to CDL type H holders, along with Consultants and Individual Contractors, Interns and Trainees are also holders of the CDL type H hence this may be of some concern. In particular, with regards to social security obligations.

Internships favor the privileged

In a world where talent is equally distributed, we see that opportunity is not. Experience has become a crucial part of students’ resumes and the question has risen as to whether or not internships are just another way to oppress minority students.

As the summer season ends, students will return to campus with stories of how they worked part-time jobs to save up for the fall semester. Others, who were able to, will return with stories of their summer internships. There will be those who had the privilege to have paid internships, while others had unpaid internships.

But what is the difference between paid and unpaid internships?

Upcoming jour fériér

Jour fériés are public holidays and there is one coming up very soon.

Next week on the 6th of September it will be the a Genevois religious holiday, called the Jeûne genevois.
Dating back to the 16th century, Jeûne genevois is a fast on the Thursday after the first Sunday of September.

During this holiday, plum pies (tartes aux pruneaux) made the day before are traditionally served. Banks, post offices, shops, restaurants and bars are closed. In solidarity with Protestants facing persecution, the whole of Geneva spends the day praying.

The other cantons of Switzerland celebrate the  Jeûne Fédéral (federal fast), on the third Sunday of September.

If you are uncertain whether your respective organisation considers this days as holidays, we advise that you confirm this point with your supervisors to be sure.
