Atlanta DRUUMM Gathering in the Social Hall
Sunday, January 19th, 2020
1:30 PM Potluck Luncheon
2:30 PM - 4:30 PM Program

We invite UU People of Color to gather for lunch and a facilitated meeting. We will have worship led by local UU Religious Professionals of Color. Our goal is to nurture new relationships between UU People of Color in the area, discuss some of the historical development of UU People of Color and anti-racism efforts, and learn more about what the community needs and interests are among those who attend. We will share a new working timeline chronicling the major milestones and development of UU People of Color ministries as a background to address local opportunities and challenges.

Please RSVP with Ayanna Kafi Stringer at ideally by January 11, 2020. We ask participants to bring a side dish to share if they are able for lunch. We will have several main dishes catered. The event is open to UU People of Color and People of Color interested in Universalism.

Wine, Cheese, and the Spoken Word

Saturday, January 25 at 7:00 pm

The Katherine Basden Story, plus Tai Chi led by Furman Riley, and an Open Mic

"There are two doors in my life . . . Behind Door #1 is depression . . . I almost called it quits in August of last year. My uselessness consumed me to the point I reached out to Door #1. A funny thing happened as I twisted the knob, my phone rang . . ."

Katherine Basden will share her prose, which will also be brought to life by performers, and her natural soaps and holistic products featuring the prose will be available for purchase. UUCA member Furman Riley will lead the group for 15 minutes of simple Tai Chi, and an Open Mic between sets will round out this evening of inspiration, reflection, and meditation.

Suggested donation for Admission is $5, but no one will be turned away.

2019 UUCA Countdown!

Do you have a 2019 memory that you’d like to share? This year, we are creating a 2019 countdown on UUCA social media. Include a photo and/or a few sentences about a cherished 2019 moment with our amazing community. Maybe it was an activity at the congregational retreat or a great photo from PRIDE. Maybe it was wonderful service or a meal with UUCA friends.  There are many ways we build community. Let’s share and reflect on these moments as we enter a new year. Make your submission by  December 29 using this form:

Dear The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta,
One month from today, we’re launching UU the Vote, our campaign focused on the 2020 elections.

All our values, our work for justice, the communities we love and the beloved community we seek to create are under attack. We must speak with moral courage and act with prophetic clarity and determination in the 2020 electoral cycle. Our UU values of interdependence, democracy, and the inherent worth and dignity of all people are direct antidotes to the fear, bigotry, and inequity that define our world.

In this political moment, UUs are called to join forces with all people who want to organize our communities and our nation to #VoteLove and #DefeatHate. Let’s UU the Vote in 2020!
Register now to join our virtual launch on January 12, 2020 at 4pm ET/1pm PT.

UUs have a history and a legacy of showing up. Many of us are already doing this work in a multitude of ways, as individuals and as religious communities. UU the Vote is a way to amplify, equip, and connect UUs who are putting our principles into practice, and making sure we bring our passion to the polls for all the issues that are important to us and so many others who dream of collective liberation.

Once you've registered, we'd love you to host a watch party at your congregation or home (either in person or virtually). We have a Congregational Toolkit to help you get started (see pages 5-8) and when you’re ready, share your event on our UU the Vote event map.

“ a religious movement, we can organize for collective impact,” wrote Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray in her column for UU World, “Let’s ‘UU the Vote’”. We hope you’ll join us in organizing in 2020. Let’s #VoteLove, #DefeatHate, and #UUTheVote!

We’re wishing you all happy holidays and looking forward to working with you in the new year!

On behalf of the UUA Organizing Strategy Team
P.S. Register before December 31st for the Revolutionary Love conference focusing on electoral engagement, climate, racial, social justice and more. Hosted at All Souls Church, Unitarian in Washington, DC in April 24th - 26th, 2020. Receive a $100+ discount just for UU's with promotional code: UUVOTE20.
