Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March and Rally

Martin Luther King, Jr., March and Rally assembles at 1 p.m. at Peachtree Street and Baker Street, and the march begins at 1:45 p.m. 

As a member of the Peace Network, I have participated in this event for several years. Please join me on Monday, January 21st 1:30 PM at SE corner of Peachtree and Ellis Streets.  The march is scheduled to begin at 1:45 PM.  I will have a UUCA or UU banner, if one is available. This is a great way to celebrate the life and work of this great leader.

Free introduction to Tai Chi Chih

In the Sanctuary at UUCA

Practice Tai Chi Chih for many health benefits: vitality, flexibility, balance, agility, longevity, serenity, stress reduction and mental clarity. Tai Chi Chih, an alternative form of Tai Chi, is relatively easy to learn for all ages. Participants in this workshop will be eligible to attend continuing practice sessions as scheduled.

UUukers jam session

UUukers will not meet Thursday, January 17th. This is a weekly ukulele jam session where most of us are at an intermediate level. We welcome guitars and singing voices. We meet weekly on Thursdays at 7:30 pm.

March On Georgia is the organizer of the women's march in Atlanta on Saturday, January 19, 2019. The details for March On to 2020! will be announced shortly. This event will celebrate the women who are making it happen in Georgia - activists and advocates, elected officials, leaders of non-profit organizations, and especially young women who are becoming our future leaders.

This Sunday’s offering will go to the Minister's Beneficence Fund, specifically earmarked to help federal employees who are coping with the government shutdown. If you or a member of UUCA you know has been impacted by the government shutdown and assistance is needed, please don't hesitate to contact one of UUCA's ministers. City Sunset: January 31
New things are happening at UUCA! The City will sunset on January 31st. In early January, we're creating a new UUCA calendar on the website. And beginning in February, we're launching a new communications platform. In the coming weeks, look for announcements about transitioning your giving from the City to Access UUCA, and news about the calendar and platform. Nicole Pressley, our Communications Director, will be hosting a Communications Summit in late February. Look out for the date in the Weekly Update.  
Women Empowered 
Saturday, January 26

10:00am – Noon  in the Social Hall at UUCA (“The Treehouse”)

We’ll be kicking off the year with sharing our hopes and dreams on how to not just survive but continue to progress toward empowering not only the women of UUCA but all women!  Join us as we strive to nourish the solidarity of women, to work together to return our country to one of sanity and compassion, and to care for ourselves along the way.  As always we will be having fun, giving and receiving support and sharing yummy snacks.

Please join the UUCA Help the Homeless Group in preparing and serving dinner at the Clifton Ministries Shelter in Candler Park on January 29th at 5:30pm. It is a great way to make a difference in the community!

Serving starts at 6:15, Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 4 and older, free for children under 3. There is a $20 family maximum and no one is turned away for inability to pay.
