We are pleased to announce that we will hold ceramic exhibition and workshop "Chanoyu made in USA" by Sawami Aoki, Brooklyn based artist. This exhibit is Sawami's second one at Setsugekka, featuring the tea container, chaire, which is used in Japanese tea ceremony to hold matcha for thick tea. Sawami will also teach you how to make Kobukusa, Japanese tea ceremony silk cloth, using antique Japanese silk on Sunday, December 8. You will enjoy her artworks at thick tea ceremony conducted by Souheki Mori on Sunday, December 15. Please kindly note that the seats for workshop and tea ceremony are limited, so please register early.
Opening reception will be held on Friday, December 6, from 6 pm to 8 pm. We will serve complementary sweets. Please join us to celebrate and meet the artist Sawami-san. We are looking forward to seeing you.
