2018 Christmas Service Schedule at St. John’s

*No Incense at Any of the Christmas Services This Year*

BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE (Wed. Dec. 19, 7 p.m.)

This service acknowledges that Christmastime can be difficult for those who are grieving or struggling with any other kind of difficulty. There will be comforting music, Eucharist, and laying on of hands and prayers for healing.
CHRISTMAS EVE (Mon. Dec. 24)

4 p.m. – Family Service (Holy Eucharist, Rite “III”)
This service will be an “alternative” service designed to be family-friendly and interactive, with a Christmas Pageant instead of a sermon. Music will be provided by a jazz quartet.

10 p.m. – Traditional Service (Holy Eucharist, Rite II)
Although earlier than a “Midnight Mass,” this service will be in that style, with chant, handbells, organ, choir, and violin.
CHRISTMAS DAY (Tues. Dec. 25)

11 a.m. – Morning Prayer (Rite II)
This is the “quieter” Christmas service, a simple Morning Prayer service with Christmas carols on the day of our Lord’s birth.

12 p.m. - Christmas Dinner with Holy Communion, hosted by Mtr. Tracy
Potluck; please bring a dish to share. As part of our sharing a meal, we will receive communion around the tables in an informal setting. Click here to RSVP and say what kind of dish you'll be bringing.

ONE SERVICE at 9:15 a.m. – Christmas Lessons & Carols with Holy Eucharist
Feast of the Epiphany (Sunday, Jan. 6)
