Honouring our Vietnam veterans 


On Vietnam Veterans' Day, Australians pause to honour the service and sacrifice of over 60,000 Australians who served in Vietnam, including over 500 who lost their lives. The day falls on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966.

Veterans' stories

Jim served with the Australian Army in Vietnam. In August 1966, he was wounded during the Battle of Long Tan. When the survivors of his platoon pulled back, Jim still lay injured on the battlefield. Watch Jim tell his story​​​​​​​
