The Lifeline
Letter from Our Pastor
Welcome to the 28TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION of our Newsletter!

Church Anniversary is an opportunity to remind ourselves of how far we have come. We may become discouraged but reflection helps us recall the things that we have accomplished and motivates us to press on In Jesus Mighty Name. It helps us find answers to move forward in faith.

The photos below bring back loving memories and help us understand who we are today and where we are going. It invigorates us with the passion we had when we first started out in 1993. It also reminds us, as God reminded Joshua, “there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.”

We are encouraged because God’s faithfulness is from "generation to generation." We see the fruit of those who committed their lives to the obedience of Christ. We are encouraged by the words of the Lord to Habakkuk “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”

Thanks to Mother Ingrid Harper, Sister Susan Curtis, Sister Amy Dente, Deacon Eben Dente, and Deacon Jeff Pamphile for their contributions to this wonderful edition. We thank Our Lord Jesus Christ for without Him we can do nothing for the advancement of the Kingdom.

In His Service,
Pastor Harper

Inspiring the Future
Deacon Frank Britto has established deep roots at NLC. Saved for over three decades, Deacon Britto received the gift of the Holy Spirit on his 39th birthday.

He arrived in the early stages of the ministry and in his time at New Life, he has epitomized consistency and dependability. Deacon Britto serves as the liaison to the community for the New Life Church installation of The Elijah Project, a local food bank organization. His responsibilities also include the execution of church maintenance, security, and transportation. Deacon Britto is a humble and dutiful laborer, with a heart for the work of God and the saints.

He describes his favorite facets of fellowshipping at New life as: “Serving the Pastor, receiving his instructions, coming together with people of God, exercising [our] spiritual gifts, and giving to the needs of the Body”.

Sister Alicia Hill is a home-grown fruit of the New Life Church. Saved now for nearly a decade, she has been a fellowshipping member of NLC since 2012.

Sister Alicia works arduously as part of the administrative team. Serving as the church clerk, her responsibilities involve keeping meticulous records of guests, baptisms, and related data. Sister Hill also serves as an integral member of the coordinating team for New Life’s weekly Friday Night Prayer.

Her love for the Body of Christ is evident, not only in her diligent service, but in her description of her fellow laborers: “The New Life Church [Family] is a peculiar and beautiful people...My favorite thing about New Life Church is the genuine love and peace of God that rests in every part of the building and within the people.”

A pillar of the New Life Church family, Mother Judy Victor was the first member filled with the Holy Spirit under the pastoral ministry of Bishop Harper. Mother Victor was present to witness the very inception of the ministry, well before there was a commercial building to house it.

Her extensive history has seen her wear many hats including: Hospitality Coordinator, Admin Secretary, and Sunday School Teacher. Mother Victor’s gifts have truly made room for her. As a member of the Kitchen Committee, her culinary skill is acclaimed by parishioners and visitors alike. Demonstrating her great capacity for giving and self-sacrifice, interestingly, Mother Victor regularly overcomes personal aversions to the texture of some of the very ingredients she uses to deliver delicious confections and dishes to the saints.

An exemplary servant, Mother Victor currently works on the Pastor’s Aide Auxillary, the Baptism and Altar Work Committees, and as an intercessor during the  “Warring Women” Tuesday Morning Women’s Prayer.
Happy Birthday
