Back To School Picnic - THIS SUNDAY!

Join us for a fun afternoon of SJS family fun at Bernice Bennett Park on Sunday, August 28th from 4-7 PM. All are welcome! Ticket and wristband includes a picnic meal: a delicious variety of tacos and quesadillas made fresh on location with rice and beans served as sides. Soda and water included. Food will be served from 4-7 pm. A SJS tradition NOT to miss!

We are so proud of the hard-work and fundraising efforts of our parents here at St. Jude. Thanks to all of you, we now have grass! Our students have really enjoyed the time on the lawn and rolling down the hill. This new space is designed to have more room for the students to play and a function PE space for our students to work out on. We have increased our PE class time this year and it wouldn’t be possible without all of you! I can’t wait to see all the different ways we use this new space here at school.

Holy Spirit Academy School Donations

Do you have extra school supplies? We would love to have them! A part of our mission as a Catholic school is to support those in need. Our sister school, Holy Spirit Academy in Los Angeles truly appreciates the help our school community provides for their students. We have donation bins outside the junior high classrooms for any extra school supplies you may have. We will be taking these donations down to Holy Spirit on Friday, September 2nd. Please consider donating school items between now and then!

Dress Code & Policy Reminders
|
|
|
I first want to start by saying THANK YOU to all of our parents for so diligently making sure your child is in proper uniform, has the proper haircut and hair accessories and respecting our school policies. There have been very few uniform or policy violations in the first week of school. However, there are a few common themes we are seeing on campus and want to remind parents of the policies:

Boys' hair must be cut above the eyebrow, ear and collar. They also are not allowed to have mohawks or mullets.

Smart watches must be turned on to SCHOOL MODE. If they do not have that function, please have your child put their watch in their backpack. Students are tempted to text, play games and so forth with these devices.

Car Line For Pick-Up Begins Monday
|
|
|
Our car line for Pick-Up will start this Monday. Please remember that there are TWO LANES. We will have plenty of staff on hand to help guide your child to the proper car. The first few days may go a little slower as we get to know all of our students and the new cars. Our goal is to have the line done by 3m everyday! We appreciate your patience.

After School Care Begins Monday
|
|
|
Starting Monday, our new After School Care Director, Gaby Moreno, will be available for after school care from 3pm - 5:30 pm. If your student remains on campus at 3pm, they will be automatically be provided supervision through the extended care program. Parents are billed $8/hr for after school care.

In order to participate as a parent volunteer in activities directly involving our students, you must be VIRTUS trained and fingerprinted by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Take advantage of these upcoming sessions at our school and church!

Are you interested in becoming Catholic? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which people can question, search and inquire into the Catholic faith. At St. Jude, members of our parish partner with those who are journeying to become fully initiated Catholics (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation). We recognize that people are in all different places in their journey and we are here to help you in any way we can.
