It’s true that we return to the feminine in this "Who we are". In the latter, we had already told how Celia Pais reached to science. But we have a good reason for this: the inauguration of the IB-S, for which we waited 10 years, and which happened in October 2017. Cândida Lucas, who we present in this "who we are", is one of the founders of IB-S and there’s not the slightest doubt that it was her dedication, commitment and persistence the main foundations of IB-S. We are also IB-S! The IB-S - Institute of Science and Innovation for Bio-Sustainability, inaugurated last October 11th of, is a new research unit of University of Minho, aiming to put science at the service of a sustainable model of life with higher quality, in built and natural environments. This institute is the result of a partnership between the Centre for Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA) and the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Engineering Structures (ISISE). As a founding member, CBMA is very proud of this achievement and as such, could not fail to show in its newsletter some moments of this important day, because after all IB-S is part of Who We Are!

You are all invited to visit our social networks (Facebook, Youtube and Instagram) and get to know us a little better. There you will have access to a lot of information. CBMA News and Views, will show science from the inside, explaining who we are, what we
think and what we do inside and outside CBMA. Hence, we hope to contribute bringing people
closer to science.

CBMA News and Views was conceived by a group of both science communicators and
researchers from CBMA (Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology).
