Dear St Jude families and friends,

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023 and a new year for all of our Jaguars!

We look forward to a great year with our entire St. Jude community and hope our students return to school well rested and ready to learn!

This Week - Weather Updates

The weather report states that we will have a good amount of rain Wednesday until Friday. I’m sure this will change by the end of the week but to get ahead of it as much as possible. Please be prepared for classroom pick-up Wednesday-Friday. We anticipate having the ability to run our normal car line tomorrow after school.

As we prepare for the rain, please remember to leave the house a little earlier as the roads will be slow and wet. We hope you all are safe and healthy as we enter the new year!

Assembly Tuesday, January 3rd

Our next student assembly will be tomorrow at 8:15am. As always, we continue to promote the great successes our students have displayed throughout the month and introduce new virtues. Each month, a new virtue is introduced and students are asked to practice this virtue everyday at school and home.

This month’s virtue is GRATITUDE.

After a wonderful Christmas season, we all have much to be grateful for. Please consider emphasizing these virtues at home each month to help your child maximize their growth as a St. Jude student.

One way to express our gratitude each day are as follows:

  • Write down one thing each day that you are grateful happened that day with your child

  • Try a game at dinner that has your child share one thing they are grateful for

  • Gratitude activities are great for kids. Try an activity during homework time to help your child understand all that they have to be grateful for this year. There are many activities online for you to explore!

School Uniform Code Reminders

This is a reminder that students must adhere to the school uniform code. For the most part, our St. Jude families have been great in helping us maintain a strong uniform policy at school. Most students have no uniform issues and we cannot thank you all enough for your support in this area. We believe that a school uniform policy helps promote discipline, structure and reduces distractions for students to learn.

A few areas need to be addressed, in general:

  • Boys haircuts. Boys hair MUST be cut above the eyebrow, ears and shirt collar. Boys in grades 5-8th grade will lose points each day they are in violation of the uniform - hair code policy

  • Shoe colors. Shoes must be either black, white or gray. The only outline color that is permitted is maroon/red (i.e. lining, logo). This also includes laces.

  • Shoes with laces or straps. Any shoe that DOES NOT have laces or straps will need to be changed immediately. Please do not send your child to school with slip-on shoes or athletic shoes with no lacing or adjustable strap.

We look forward to a GREAT 2023 at St. Jude!
