Today is day 12 of lockdown and we are over halfway through! The official end date of lockdown is now in sight and not just a far off date - giving us good reason to be positive! Thank you to each and every Resident that has made such an effort to follow the President's "Stay-at-home" directive. Let's hope the lockdown is not extended.
I particularly like these words of positivity. Thank you to Gareth Jones for providing the following quote:
COVID-19 is a human crisis and as such, it will take humanity to solve it! Stay strong, be positive and take solace in the fact that this too shall pass…...Tough times don’t last but tough people do!
Please remember tomorrow DSW will be collecting the refuse and they have asked Residents to suspend recycling and place all waste in one bag. The garden refuse service will be limited but Residents are advised to limit the number of garden refuse blue bags out for collection.
Leaving the house as little as possible is obviously everyone's number one priority and so it is logical that increasing the shelf life of food is vital so that we only need to shop when absolutely necessary. Please see further along in this newsletter where we have some handy hints to help you keep your food fresher for longer. We also have some more tips for working at home and more items to "Beat The Boredom". Please send Robyn (email@example.com) any brain teasers that you would like to share with the community. And do make sure to please send her the answers too!
As always my team and I are here so please contact me if you have any queries. Please stay safe but also stay positive.

On a very positive note, we are delighted to announce we have appointed a new Technical Manager, Baxton Govender who started with the security team on the 1st April 2020. Baxton has over 13 years’ experience in the Security Technical Sector, where he has managed technical teams and specifically on Residential Estates. The added value to MECCEMA is that he has already been involved in overseeing most of our new installation work on-site, so he is already familiar with our Estate. We wish him all the best and welcome him to our Team
UPDATE FROM THE GOLF COMMITTEE:
THE MATKOVICH TEAM
The Matkovich Team, our Golf Course and Bowling Green Maintenance Service provider, faced enormous challenges with the 21-day lockdown. Leaving the golf courses and its surrounds unmaintained for 21 days would have been catastrophic.
An application was duly submitted to allow maintenance to be conducted under the premise that critical maintenance service cannot be delayed for the 21-day lockdown and it is essential that normal operations resume after the lockdown period. This was granted and a skeleton staff of volunteers was assembled to complete a minimum service to the courses.
Less essential areas of the courses have been set aside for a later date. Essential maintenance to tees, greens, fairways, and the immediate surroundings were identified. The team of volunteers led by Larry Sogoni, the Greenskeeper, were relocated and accommodated within close proximity to the Club while remaining isolated within the guidelines of social distancing. The staff work as individuals, operating specialised equipment and completing their essential tasks within a minimum period of time as is humanly possible. Larry oversees the team and ensures all the guidelines are followed.
Many of our Residents have witnessed the Matkovich Team on the courses and have shared positive comments. The services are essential to ensure the tees, the greens, the grasses and surrounds are cut and treated so the fungus and diseases so commonly found are contained. Failing to do this would risk great damage to the golf courses and the bowling greens - the replacement of which would be costly.
Larry and his dedicated and loyal team, have in true South African style, turned a potentially disastrous scenario into an opportunity. An opportunity that will be seen and experienced by all the Members when normal operations resume after the lockdown. This is the true meaning of “Ubuntu”, a service to the community, our Community. We are grateful for their sincere loyalty. Stay Safe

So often we share multiple pieces of information across multiple social media platforms without checking if they are in fact true or who or how they may affect people. Here is an important checklist that I think we should all remember.
