Sometimes HOPE is a LOT of postcards...

Hi, all, and happy Friday!

Look at all those postcards we helped write for Christy Smith in CA! Around 17 thousand and counting, all done by volunteers like you. I thought you'd enjoy seeing what we, collectively, can accomplish.

After all, when I write my ten or twenty postcards it feels like a tiny drop in an impossibly big bucket.

But when I see all of our work together I think: wow. That's a heck of a lot of drops.

Remember, taking our tiny actions, often in small groups, we can forget what an enormous whole we're a part of.

So let those boxes of cards be an emblem of hope, and a reminder of what we can do.

Call Your Senators
Hi, I'm a constituent calling because I'm really, really worried about election security, especially in light of Trump's acquittal. I want the Senator to support HR 4617, the SHIELD Act, and any other bills or budget items that fund moving to hand-marked paper ballots or other election protections. Thanks.

Call Your House Member
Hi, I'm a constituent calling to ask the Congressmember to support H.R. 5687 – the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief and Puerto Rico Disaster Tax Relief Act, 2020.

I also want him/her to support the resolution of disapproval against the new Medicaid block grant funding option. Trump's plan will block people from necessary care and make it impossible for states to manage Medicaid budgets during periods of economic turmoil. Thanks. [H/T]

Extra Credit

I'd like us to do the same thing for Doug Jones today that we did for Mitt Romney yesterday. Jones is going to be hard pressed to re-win his seat because of his vote on removal, and he deserves our thanks...and dollars, if we have any to spare. So please, at the very least let's thank him at:

(202) 224-4124
(251) 414-3083
(334) 425-4541

Or mail him a card at:
Senator Doug Jones

Washington, DC 20510

🚨 CALL TO ACTION 🚨 from my friends at Every Last One:

"We have been fighting for this poor 5-year-old boy in detention with a skull fracture. We’re not exaggerating that he could die. He’s not getting the care he needs and ICE is doing crazy things that endanger his health like giving him the top bunk. His mother, afraid a fall could kill him, is cramming him into the bottom bunk with her. No one is sleeping. ICE has been known to respond to public pressure. So we started a petition.

Can you sign and share it?

Hi, I'm writing as a constituent to urge you to please co-sponsor the Fracking Ban Act. This legislation, led by Senator Sanders, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Representative Darren Soto, would mandate that no federal agency may approve any federal permit for the expansion of fracking or fracked oil and gas infrastructure.

We know that fracking is a direct threat to our health, our communities, and our drinking water while contributing to the climate crisis, and it's past time the government put the people before corporate polluters. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, fracking extracts fossil gas containing methane, which is a greenhouse gas that traps more than 87 times the heat of carbon dioxide. Further methane leakages from fracking could increase U.S. carbon pollution 25 percent by 2050.

We know that the climate crisis is here, and our Federal government must transition our economy to a 100% clean energy future, moving us off of all fossil fuels -- including the dangerous oil and gas industries that are poisoning our communities. That is why I urge you to please cosponsor the Fracking Ban Act, legislation that sets a national precedent that we must transition our economy away from dirty fossil fuels, and invest in a 100% clean and just future. Thanks.

OK. Do all of this, then enjoy your weekend. YOU DID IT! I'm so proud of you, and grateful for what you do for your country every day.
Talk Monday!
