AGAC and the Ville de Montréal unveil Pierre-Ayot and Louis-Comtois finalists

The Ville de Montréal and the Contemporary Art Galleries Association (AGAC) unveiled today the finalists of the Prix Pierre-Ayot and the Prix Louis-Comtois. Congratulations to all the selected artists!
The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held Tuesday, December 4 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
Prix Louis-Comtois Finalists
A jury of professionals in the visual arts field has nominated Cynthia Girard-Renard, Yann Pocreau and Chih-Chien Wang for the Prix Louis-Comtois, an award for mid-career contemporary artists.

The Prix Louis-Comtois aims to consolidate the recognition of a mid-career artist and to highlight the quality of his or her production in the field of contemporary art in Montreal. The recipient is awarded a $ 7,500 grant and a $ 2,500 budget for the organization of an individual exhibition in Montréal. The City of Montréal also acquires an artwork from the winner for its municipal collection.
Prix Pierre-Ayot Finalists
For the Prix Pierre-Ayot, awarded to an artist with less than 10 years of professional practice in the visual arts, the finalists are Adam Basanta, Jinyoung Kim and Léna Mill-Reuillard.

The Prix Pierre-Ayot aims to promote excellence among Montreal’s new visual arts creators, to foster the dissemination of the work of young artists in the city’s galleries and artist-run spaces, and to recognize the efforts of presenters to support up-and-coming artists. The recipient is awarded a $ 5,000 grant and a $ 2,500 budget for the organization of an individual exhibition in Montréal. The Ville de Montréal also acquires an artwork from the winner for its municipal collection.
Awards for excellence in visual arts
The winners of the Prix Pierre-Ayot, of the Prix Louis-Comtois, as well as the winner of the Conseil des arts de Montréal's award for Cultural diversity in visual arts award will be announced during a ceremony at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
