January 15, 2019  Board Meeting Update
  • The flag salute was led by students from Baker including siblings Mikela (3rd) and Mason (Kindergarten) along with Penny (3rd).  The students also answered questions from Board members about why they like their school. Principal, Chris Barbara shared current events that are happening on campus as well.
  • The Superintendent and the Board of Trustees recognized middle school teachers Dawn Lavond (Moreland Middle School) and Jeffrey Spafford (Latimer School K-8) as finalists for the “Middle School Educator of the Year” award.  The award is sponsored by the California League of Schools.

  • Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Destiny Ortega shared a report on the recent results released on the California School Dashboard.  The California School Dashboard is an online tool that shows how local educational agencies and schools are performing on the state and local indicators included in California's school accountability system.  This information will assist in identifying strengths, weaknesses and areas in need of improvement for local educational agencies and schools.
  • The Superintendent provided an update on the status of the potential field renovation project with De Anza Force Soccer Club.
  • Board members approved the 2019-2020 LCAP & Budget Development Calendar and a Notice of Exemption on the Anderson Elementary School Preschool Building Project.
  • The Board also approved the interview candidates and organization of the Special Session Board meeting on January 23, 2019.  The Board will interview five applicants to fill the vacant Board seat via a provisional appointment.
  • Other annual personnel items, contracts/contract adjustments, and consent agenda items were also approved.
