February 12, 2019  Board Meeting Update
  • The flag salute was led by 8th Grade Moreland Middle School students, Clarie and Jack.  Both students were recognized by the Board of Trustees. Jack nominated Clarie for the Project Cornerstone Positive Peer Influence Award. They will be recognized at the Annual Project Cornerstone Asset Champions Breakfast in March.
  • Superintendent, Dr. Going along with Board of Trustee members recognized Melanie Rafferty at the meeting.  Melanie is a noon-duty staff member at Payne Elementary who recently helped to save a choking student by administering the Heimlich maneuver.  Payne Principal, Katie Berg, shared the story of the event with those in attendance.

  • Board members voted to approve the Low-Performing Students Block Grant Plan.  Assembly Bill 180 authorizes the allocation of a $300 million grant in the 2018-2019 fiscal year to provide California’s low-performing students with additional support to increase their academic achievement. Moreland School District will receive $165,986 from this grant.
  • The Consolidated Application, Part II was unanimously approved.  The Con App is used by the California Department of Education to distribute categorical funds from various federal programs to county offices, school districts, and charter schools throughout California.  Moreland’s funding is based on student demographics and/or enrollment.
  • The bid for the Prop 39 Clean Energy Lighting Retrofit Project was awarded to ReGreen Inc.  All necessary documents were provided and the bid amount was within the budget. The bid amount was $960,920.37.
