The flag salute was led by students from Payne Elementary. In addition to the Pledge of Allegiance, they also led Board members and the audience in the Payne Pledge. Payne Principal Katie Berg and Assistant Principal Chelsea Armann updated Board members on the positive school climate at Payne and other academic initiatives.
Assistant Superintendent, Patti Ernsberger shared details from the Developer Fee Report. Under Government Code 66006(b), each school district which imposes developer fees is required to annually review the revenue and the amount of expenditures from developer fees. Developer Fees are deposited into the Capital Facilities Fund 250. All fees collected were expended within a 5 year period of deposit and fees that have not been levied, collected, or imposed for general revenue purposes. The 2017-2018 developer fee report contains all of the required information to meet these guidelines.
Director of Fiscal Services, Evangeline Reyes and Assistant Superintendent, Patti Ernsberger shared information from the First Interim Report for the 2018-2019 school year. The report shared the changes that have occurred since the District budget was adopted in June including a decline in enrollment. The report also includes assumptions for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 school years including potential budget cuts. Board members approved the First Interim Report.
The Board also approved the final 2019-2020 Moreland District Student Calendar. The calendar is available on the District website under the “News & Resources” tab. The first day of school will be Thursday, August 22nd.
Superintendent, Mary Kay Going updated Board members on the Board member Provisional Appointment process. Applications were made available to the public starting on Monday December 3rd. Applications can be picked up at the Superintendent’s Office or are available on the District website and are due by Friday, December 14th at 4:30 PM.
Board members held their annual organizational meeting at the conclusion of the meeting. Current Board President, Brian Penzel was elected to serve another term as was current Board Clerk Heather Sutton. Members also determine committee assignments and approved Board meeting dates for the 2019-2020 school year.
Other annual personnel items, contracts/contract adjustments, and consent agenda items were also approved.
Returning Board members Brian Penzel and Heather Sutton along with new Board member, Ryan Sales, all took the Oath of Office. The Oath was administered by Superintendent, Dr. Mary Kay Going.
