Dear CDNIS community,
I am sure you are keeping up to date with news around the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and the decision by the World Health Organization to declare the outbreak a global public health emergency. Please be assured that the senior leadership team is continuing to monitor the situation and has been in direct communication with the Education Bureau (EDB) during the Lunar New Year holiday as we discuss the latest updates and health warnings affecting Hong Kong and abroad.
As you know, schools across Hong Kong including CDNIS will remain closed until Sunday, February 16. Despite this closure, faculty are planning appropriate coursework with online learning to ensure adherence to the curriculum. Students are advised that their coursework and required assignments will be posted by 8am daily, beginning Tuesday, February 4.
- The entire school will be deep cleaned this weekend - made easier since no staff or students will be on campus - and again before school resumes, with special attention being paid to high contact areas such as door handles, elevator buttons, and bathrooms. Additional soap dispensers and hand sanitizers are being installed, along with posters encouraging all to be extra mindful of hand washing hygiene;
- Parents and students are permitted to enter the school starting February 4 between 8am and 2:30pm to collect laptops or other learning tools;
- All February SEASAC trips have been cancelled; a decision will be made in the coming weeks regarding upcoming local and overseas trips;
- The Student Grant drop box will be relocated to the 9/F security desk on February 4 (the deadline to submit applications for scholarships has been extended by the EDB until February 17).
As of writing, our intention remains for the school to resume normal operations on Monday, February 17 subject to any preventative measures or recommendations from the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) and the Education Department (EDB). The senior leadership team will continue to keep a close eye on any further announcements and will notify the community as soon as possible if changes are necessary.
Please continue to follow Health Department guidelines. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
