February 2018

If you’d like to, feel free to bring along your sketchbook, dummy book, WIP, etc. and enjoy some time talking shop with your tribe. We are also giving ourselves an assignment this month, and hope you’ll participate. Draw a scene/character/book cover/or anything of your choice from The Frog Prince. We’ll have a show & tell session to get inspired from each other and enjoy some great artwork together. 2/10/2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Café Brazil, 200 Coit Rd., Plano, Texas.
SCBWI North Texas will be at the Texas Librarian Association's Annual Conference in Dallas April 3-6. If you would like to donate books to be given away as prizes to librarians in attendance, contact Jackie Kruzie at

A Master Class on Plot + 3-Act 5 Structure: Join Dakotas SCBWI for a webinar with TV writer and author, Sheryl Scarborough. By delving into which part of your story belongs in which act, Scarborough simplifies this powerful, story-telling technique. 3-Act structure will provide a spine for your story while also establishing pace. It’s as useful for first drafting as it is for revisions. 2/22/2018 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. LEARN MORE OR REGISTER.
Meet the Reptiles at the Coppell Biodiversity Education Center: Join the North Texas Illustrators for this free event as they meet reptiles and spend some time sketching critters & kids. Registration is required. 2/24/2018 at 11:00 a.m. LEARN MORE OR REGISTER.
