‘Superstar’ was the very first song written for Wild Seeds, a pure example of the band’s song-writing mastery and stirring showcase of the band’s gorgeous lyricism and soaring harmonies. In one of the emotional high-points of the album, a deceptively delicate and ethereal verse blooms into the repeated affirmations, “you know who you are, you’re a superstar.” The uplifting ballad is described by the band as, “a song about encouraging someone close to you to stop doubting themselves and realise how great they are".
Wild Seeds is the long-awaited follow-up to their 2011 self-titled debut, which debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart and has been certified Gold. It wasn’t until 2016 that they decided to come together again, meeting one evening a week during winter, at a studio Holly was renting in Sydenham, right under the flight path. It was there that the album started to take shape.
“’Superstar’ was the first song we wrote for the album. Sally brought in the piano part, and a rough song structure and together we worked on melodies and lyrics. We had never written songs together before, so I think we all felt a little nervous. However, this song came together really quickly and organically.” – Seeker Lover Keeper
To celebrate the release of their new album, Seeker Lover Keeper will hit the road with their live band for an extensive national tour in September and October. Tickets are on sale now via seekerloverkeeper.com.au.
