Welcome to 2019. As the students at PHS dive into 2nd semester, we have been presented with some fun weather challenges for our area. The PHS Pirate Boosters are looking for help and support from its parents and community members during this year’s Dinner & Auction on March 1st. Please contact Jennifer or Brandie firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering.
Please consider donating a bottle of wine for the Wine Pull which is held during the PHS Boosters Dinner and Auction. Value of each bottle needs to be AT LEAST $20. It can be purchased for less than $20, but regular retail value needs to be at least $20. The wine will be sold at the Wine Pull for patrons to enjoy throughout the evening, or can be taken home to enjoy at a later time.

The support activities committee is responsible for running the coat check for the dances each year. We secure the volunteers for the evening, set up and oversee the coat check while providing water and a snack during the dance. We are looking for volunteers for the winter dance coming up on February 23rd. Please contact Karen Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering for this event. PHS Booster Club 2018-2019 Scholarship
The PHS Pirate Booster Club is now accepting applications for its 45th annual Scholarship Program. These scholarships will be awarded to deserving members of the Palatine High School graduating class of 2019 wishing to further their education. Up to 13 graduating seniors may receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Twelve of these scholarships are named in honor of Fred Zajonc. Mr. Zajonc was a community leader, a village trustee, and a long time member and past president of the Booster Club who worked tirelessly to generate parent and community support of Palatine High School. The additional scholarship, the “Charlotte M. and Robert C. Donahue Millennium Scholarship” was donated by PHS alumni, Andy and Patrick Donahue, in honor of their parents, the late Charlotte and Robert Donahue.
Please submit completed applications by 3:45pm on Monday, March 18, 2019 to Marla Morrissey in the main office at PHS.
Applicant Requirements: Must be attending a 4 year college/university, 2 year community college or a certified trade/vocational school
Minimum 2.0 GPA. If applicant has less than a 2.0 average, but has extenuating circumstances, please submit completed application along with a separate typed statement of explanation.
Selection Criteria: The scholarship committee is looking for students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, academic excellence, service and volunteerism at Palatine High School and in the community.
Come and vote for your favorite music faculty person to wear a banana costume! Tri-M’s annual Banana contest kicks off the last week of February and goes through the Band Concert on March 12th. The fundraiser goes towards charities and funding Tri-M events.
This year, Zoe Vukelich (president), Leah Bradley (Historian) and Rachel Heikkinen (Board member) are representing PHS at the Illinois Music Educators Conference in Peoria Jan. 25-26 at the Tri-M booth.
· Congrats to 3 band students for being selected into the D211 Honors Orchestra: Johnny Azpuru, Phoebe Domanus, Matthew Ritterbusch
· The Spring Band Concert is on March 12th at 7:30pm at PHS.
· Congratulations to our string students who were accepted into D211 Honors Orchestra: Ashley Hallier, Britta Kuusik, Connor LaSalle, Tess Boghossian, Leah Bradley, and Hayden Williams.
· Congrats to the Jazz Lab Band & Jazz Ensemble for receiving a “superior” rating at the North Shore Jazz Festival at Glenbrook South High School on January 19th
· The Winter Orchestra Concert is on February 28th at 7:30pm at PHS.
· Choir is busy getting ready for the Chicagoland Showcase Contest on March 1-2 at Hersey High School and the Spring Choir Concert on Friday March 8th at 7:30 pm at PHS.
