How Full is the Glass Recently I was challenged to choose whether a glass containing a liquid was half full or half empty. Then the questioner said, "Isn't it completely full?" For a moment I wondered what they meant, then came their reply, "Of course it's full, it is filled to the top with both water and air!" Well that certainly made sense. Why do we want a half full or half empty scenario when we can see life as completely full - maybe not with one substance but full nonetheless. Christ wants us to have a completely, glass-full existence embracing all that life has to offer. ~ Debbie Muthersbaugh, Dean

Psi Chi Induction
Eight current psychology students were inducted into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. They include Juliana Conrad, Grace Dale, Jessica Fernandez, Jodie Maravilla, Daisy Mendez-Perez, Aaron Popo, Jillian Rojas, and Graciela Smith. To be considered for this honor, undergraduate students must have completed at least three semesters of full-time coursework at an institution of higher education, have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) that ranks in the top 35% of their class and a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0. The intent of an honor society is to represent excellence among peers. In addition, undergraduate students must also have completed nine semester hours (or fourteen quarter hours) of psychology courses for which they have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. These standards are in accordance with the minimum standards of the Association of College Honor Societies. Their website states,"Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology." Congratulations to the newest Psi Chi inductees (shown above, and below with psychology mentors Dr. Ivy, Professor Ezpeleta, and Dr. Archer).
Engaging Presentations PSYC 215 Developmental Psychology class did an excellent job with the class activity portion of their "Topic presentation." The presenters talked about the "Late Adulthood" developmental stage and engaged the class in writing letters with encouraging messages that will be delivered to a local assisted living facility. Many students expressed how much they appreciated this opportunity as a way to connect with our community. Pictured above is one of the group members in our class, Josh Price, who will be delivering all of the letters.
Preschoolers Makes Grapes
Discovery Preschool students went outside to make raisins from grapes in the warmth of Wednesday's sun. This was based on the week's Bible lesson, "I am the vine, you are the branches" in John 15.
Curriculum Library
CL (Curriculum Library) The CL is located on the third floor of Smith Hall. This space is dedicated to providing resources for teacher training and psychology testing materials, among others. There is a meeting room with TV projection capabilities that can be scheduled with our CL Director Franice Stirling. It is also a great place to study and hang out between classes.

Uma Wimple has always loved to make charts and graphs, but when her teacher makes an assignment to chart her house, she draws a blank. Various charts and graphs, used in the illustrations, can be a springboard for classroom instruction.
