Open House to Celebrate Dr. Archer's 30 Years of Service Dr. Austin Archer, professor of psychology and education, is retiring after 30 years as faculty at Walla Walla University. Please join us in celebrating his service to our school at a come-and-go Open House on Saturday evening, December 11 between 5:00-7:00 pm in Smith Hall. Enjoy a light refreshment and warm beverage while wishing him well!
Teach in Taiwan Info Session
Meet with the principal of Taiwan Adventist American School, Eric Anderson. He will be visiting the School of Education and Psychology on Monday, December 6 and would like to visit about the possibility of serving as a teacher in Taiwan. Stop by the Smith Hall main offices between 10:30-11:30 am or 1:30-4:30 pm to meet Mr. Anderson and learn more about teaching in Taiwan.
CEED Diversity Grant Session
The SEP Center for Educational Equity and Diversity (CEED) Co-Directors, Dr. Maria Bastien Valenca (pictured above) and Dr. Debbie Muthersbaugh recently attended a training session to become better acquainted with the new WA State Diversity Standards. The meeting ended with each group represented creating a visual of our current work.
NPUC and Local School District Interviews - SAVE the DATE!
Each winter the North Pacific Union Conference leadership sponsors an event in January to provide an opportunity to meet potential employers. Administrators looking for teacher candidates from both local private and public schools, as well as from around the Pacific Northwest will be in attendance. Both graduating seniors and junior education majors are welcome to come to the following events on Sunday, January 30:

Each year a WWU faculty who has demonstrated scholarly insights and academic contributions to their fields is chosen to present the Distinguished Faculty Lecture. Teacher's Aide Opening at RAS Rogers Adventist School (RAS) has several openings for the position of teacher’s aide. This position will provide WWU students with experience in the day-to-day operation of a classroom. Students will gain experience in the organizational and management skills necessary for the efficient operation of the class. Applicants should have a high school diploma (or an equivalent) and be a University student with a major in education or related subjects. The applicant should be available to work an average of 8 hours a week from 09/27/2021 to 06/03/2022. The hourly pay is minimum wage and there will be a yearly evaluation during spring quarter. After School Tutor Opening at Davis Elementary Davis School has positions available in the Ignite after-school program. This job is very well suited to anyone who is interested in working in the education field, as tutors will gain experience working in a public school setting. The hours are from 2:30-5pm Monday through Thursday, but tutors may work two to three days a week as well.
