Introducing Mid-Atlantic Minutes

Hello MAAUA Members,
We are excited to announce a new communication initiative! Mid-Atlantic Minutes will be a weekly online newsletter issued by the MAAUA that will contain general announcements, messages from the leadership, calls for nominations, application due dates, awards, etc.

|
We are trying to reduce the number of inbox messages that can flood your email and detract your attention in favor of one high-yield weekly memo to provide all of the information important in the Section in this missive so that you don't mistakenly delete an important message. We are a busy organization with many balls in the air and want you to be able to access all of the relevant information in one succinct email and will make sure to archive old issues on our website, maaua.org.
Mid-Atlantic Minutes will be emailed to MAAUA members every Friday, beginning on February 3rd so be on the lookout!
While I have your attention, there are a couple upcoming events that I would like to highlight:
- The deadline to apply for the Pre-medicine Enrichment Program (PEP) is fast approaching. In this program, we seek to empower historically underrepresented minorities (URM) who are first-generation students considering medicine. Recipient Institutions of this scholarship will enroll a URM in a mentoring and support program that focuses on developing key skills within four core areas that are essential to a successful career in Urology and medicine. Each summer, six stipends of $5000 will be awarded to institutions throughout the section. Interested organizations may apply online at maaua.org/pep, and award recipients will be notified in the late winter/early spring. Application deadline is January 31, 2023.
- The MAAUA will be sponsoring the Winter issue of the Didusch Newsletter. This publication will highlight contributions to the field of sexual medicine that are unique to the section and members of the section, past and present. You'll be surprised to see all of the innovations that our small section has been responsible for over the years, supporting the notion that Size Doesn't Matter!

- Come One, Come All to the 2023 MAAUA Annual Meeting to be held October 19-21 in historic Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. The section leadership is working feverishly to put together a stimulating program that will highlight hot topics and cutting-edge urologic research, along with updates and lectures from urology thought-leaders and luminaries.

But we insist that you and your families also enjoy the surrounding activities and landscape of historic Williamsburg and neighboring Jamestown and Yorktown, a region with very deep meaning in American History. You may even see George and Martha Washington wondering about(!). More information regarding registration and abstract submission will be forthcoming.
