I want to take a moment to thank you for all you’ve done to support your learners’ progress during our site closure due to COVID-19. It is an honor to partner with you in our mission to prepare our lifelong learners to lead in the 21st century. As we work through issues affecting our school, I’d like to share some updated procedures that can be utilized as needed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
In alignment with the guidance of the California State Department of Education, any changes in instruction or learning due to COVID-19 will not adversely impact a learner’s grades. Therefore, a learner’s final grade will be held harmless after March 13, 2020. Learners will continue to work in their courses, and what is submitted may count only toward improving the overall grade in the course. Work will be used as evidence to measure continued progress on the learner’s individual learning plan and report of progress.
Assessment is a critical element of teaching and learning that has been impacted by COVID-19. Per the California State Department of Education, all state testing windows are cancelled.
Learners will be promoted to the subsequent grade level for the 2020-21 school year. If retention is a consideration, it will be based only on data collected prior to March 13, 2020. The same Student Study Team (SST) process will take place if retention is a consideration.
Thank you for your support as we continue to provide the best possible learning opportunities for our kids during this unprecedented time. I will keep you informed of any updates in the weeks ahead.
