Hand-Made Holiday Traditions

I love to unpack all my handmade decorations every December. I am not terribly sentimental but all the years of memories held in those home-made gifts from family and friends, some no longer living, bring out the big feelings. I think the oldest ornament I own is a felt snowman made by one of my aunts. My oldest brother and cousins also got one, each with a different color hat and buttons and our names handwritten on the back. I treasure it.

My tree skirt is another Christmas favorite. It was given to me by a sister-in-law who had replaced it with a new one and I gladly gave it a new home. It’s vintage calico with red prairie point trim and washes up nicely, perfect for our house where it doubles as a pet bed. As you can see, my cat, Coriander, and my recently adopted senior corgi, Ginger, both love to be under the tree.

I hope all your handmade gifts to family and friends bring many years of joy and fond memories.
