It has been brought to Printing SA’s attention that there is a Malawian man named Arthur Chinyamula from a company called The Product, who is claiming that he represents the Malawian Government by way of being their Senior Media Specialist.

He is very well presented and has a convincing understanding of the printing industry. He claims that his department has used a printer in DUBAI for the last ten years but he has now been mandated by the President to use a printer in the SADC region. He will request quotations and request that you complete his forms. Once he has “inspected” the plant and understands your capacity, he then “awards” you a one year exclusive right to print for Malawi. He then places “orders” and gives you high-resolution print-ready artwork which is perfect in all respects.

He then maintains that out of six jobs there are two that are critically urgent for a function in Malawi (two high-value jobs being 100K plus.) Arthur will press on the fact that payment has been processed through his office and that money is not a problem as they are funded by many different international organisations, (which he mentions by name.) He urges the printer to continue with the jobs as he has the Malawian Government behind him and even suggests that you will be introduced to the President if you take the time to visit Malawi.

After investigating Arthur and his company we discovered that he is a scam artist who has recently been arrested in Malawi for cheque fraud, what's more, he has already defrauded a local printer. Though he goes by the name of Arthur Chinyamula, his real name is Steve Chinyamula.

We urge members to be vigilant and report any instances where he may have contacted you so that we can take the appropriate action. Should you have more information please contact Abisha Katerere on
