As the holiday season begins and the year comes to a close, Tech Exchange is taking a look back at our digital equity impact in 2022. Thanks to our supporters and volunteers, our dedicated staff and interns, and the participants who inspire us, Tech Exchange is closing the digital divide in the Bay Area.

In the first ten months of the year, our warehouse team picked up 12,135 pieces of old equipment, diverting e-waste from landfills and reducing carbon emissions for a healthier environment. The devices that were viable were refurbished by our Oakland warehouse team alongside interns in our workforce development program. To date in 2022, Tech Exchange has distributed 5,644 free or low-cost refurbished devices to low-income community members throughout the Bay Area. We’ve also begun hosting enrollment events for the Affordable Connectivity Program, and have connected more than 300 families with broadband internet service as a result.

All this would be impossible without the support of community members like you. After our successful #GivingTuesday fundraising, we are thrilled to announce that all gifts in December will be tripled, up to $50,000, thanks to a generous anonymous donor.
