Be UUCA Delegate at GA!

General Assembly is the annual meeting to worship, learn, connect and make policy for the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA).  This year, the UUA General Assembly will be held June 19-23 in Spokane Washington.  If you are interested in serving as a delegate from UUCA, please email your board at by Sunday, April 28, 2019.  Thanks

Thank you all for your thoughtful participation in our straw poll as we assess best next steps for a new home for our congregation. As a next step in this process, we will be conducting a philanthropic feasibility study to assess our community’s financial capacity for a campaign over the next few months. To ensure we are able to incorporate the most congregant feedback in advance this study, we’d urge each of you to take a moment to submit your vote if you haven't already done so for the new facility plan you prefer. Dot votes can be cast in the front office or online votes can be cast here. We will officially close the poll on May 8th.

Thank you again for your commitment to our UUCA family and your engagement in this important process.
Announcing Taryn Strauss as Acing Senior Minister beginning July 1.

Your UUCA Board of Trustees is happy to announce that we have hired Taryn Strauss, current Associate Minister, as our Acting Senior Minister beginning July 1, 2019. We note and celebrate this history-making moment for UUCA, as we welcome our first female-identifying senior minister. Although Taryn has been with us for awhile now, we want to share information about her that helped convince your Board she was the right Acting Senior Minister for us at this time.

Under his leadership, Clarkston has become the first city in Georgia to raise the minimum wage to $15/hr for city employees, make Election Day a holiday, and decriminalize simple marijuana possession. Ted also helped enact the strictest indoor smoking ordinance in the state, a public health measure to reduce second-hand smoke related illness in Clarkston. He is currently working on innovative new models around civilian led policing, tiny house developments and micro-farming, as well as committing Clarkston to a goal of 100 percent clean energy by 2050.

Singing for Non Singers
Sunday, May 5, 12:30 pm
People always think that singing is something people are born with. Only some people are blessed with a nice singing voice. UUCA's Director of Music Don Milton III disagrees. Singing is a skill that can be learned like any other skill. More like drawing or sewing than like athletic prowess. In this hour long session we will talk about the anatomy of the voice, make some noise together and answer any questions you've maybe been afraid to ask about the amazing instrument we all carry around. This is a one session class open to anybody and everybody.
